Kyumin Kim (김규민)
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Davis, specializing in marine resource management and the study of coastal communities dependent on marine resources. My research examines the impacts of climate change and environmental shocks on fishing and coastal communities through the lens of coupled marine ecosystems. Beyond assessing these impacts, I am committed to identifying effective mitigation strategies through various policy instruments, including restoration efforts.
By integrating ecological and economic perspectives, my interdisciplinary approach enables the development of optimal management strategies for marine ecosystems and resource-dependent communities. My work employs advanced methodologies, including numerical analysis, optimization, and econometric techniques.
I am an active member of the NatuRE Policy Lab and the Kelp RiSES research partnership, working under the guidance of Drs. Michael Springborn and Matthew Reimer. My research aims to enhance our understanding of complex coastal ecosystem and economic management challenges, ultimately informing more effective policy decisions.
I have been honored with several awards, including:
- 2025 NAAFE Best Student Paper Award
- 2023 North Pacific Research Board (NPRB) Fellowship
- 2023 California Sea Grant Graduate Student Research Fellowship
